JACKSONVILLE, Illinois—The Prairie Fire swept a doubleheader at Illinois College on Saturday.
Knox (10-22, 3-11) battled for a 3-2 victory in game one before breaking out offensively in game two to win 12-9.
Alec Jordan (Spring Grove, IL, Richmond-Burton) scattered four hits over seven innings to keep the Prairie Fire in game one. He struck out six and allowed one run.
Alex Bell (Elgin, IL, Burlington Central) earned the win pitching two innings in relief.
Tom Janczur (Darien, IL, Downer's Grove South) pitched into the ninth inning in game two despite pitching around a rain delay. He picked up his first win of the year and
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth inning to seal the victory.
Ryan Weitendorf (New Lenox, IL, Lincoln-Way East) tallied four hits in eight at bats on the day for the Prairie Fire. He had a home-run and three RBI.
Tristyn Ruiz (Waukegan, IL, Waukegan) picked up the first home-run of his career and finished 4-for-10 on the day with two RBI and three runs scored. Bell went 3-for-9 and Sykes hit a home-run and drove in five runs while scoring three.
The Prairie Fire will conclude the season with a home doubleheader against Illinois College on May 8.
