AUSTIN, Minnesota—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team fell to Luther 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
"We faced a well prepared team today," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "Luther came out guns blazing and although we went to halftime nil-nil we hadn't really thrown a punch."
Knox (2-2) and the Norse played to a scoreless tie through the first half. Luther struck first when they scored just three minutes into the second half. The Prairie Fire responded when
Alessandro Isoardi (Moncalieri, Italy, International School of Turin) found the net in the seventy second minute. The Norse scored once more with under seven minutes to play to seal the victory. "In the second half it started more of the same and it took the bough to break before we woke up," added Sheikh. "From there, I loved the way we wrestled ourselves back into the game. We are a scrappy team and our young guard were the ones who ignited us going forward with the ball. In the end I have no problem with the result as Luther got a wonder strike for a deserved win."
Goal keeper
Justin Dunn (Wilmette, IL, New Trier) allowed two goals while racking up five saves while facing 14 shots.
Knox returns to action tomorrow when they face Wartburg.
