Men's Soccer Takes Down Blackburn

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Blackburn at home on Saturday.

Knox (4-3) won for the second time this week to move back above .500. Jun Min (Buffalo Grove, IL, Stevenson) got the scoring going with a goal at the 10:31 mark. He was assisted by Austin Grzebieniak (North Barrington, IL, Barrington Community). Rocky Plaza (Manila, Philippines, PAREF Southridge School) added a goal just two minutes later with Terence Lau (Shanghai, China, Shanghai American School) and Charlie Raymond (Portland, OR, Central Catholic) rounding out the scoring. All the goals in the game were scored in the first half.

"Our best attribute today was that we had utmost respect for the team Rob has put together. I thought their ability to hurry us and string together some nice attacks was a real threat to us," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "We had some individual brilliance and a couple lucky bounces to get some goals before halftime. After that, the guys did a nice job seeing out the rest of the game.  We look to keep improving with another stern test against Fontbonne coming up."

Knox remains home when they battle Fontbonne on September 20.
