APPLETON, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team started conference play with a 2-1 victory over Lawrence.
Knox (6-3-0, 1-0-0 MWC) and the Vikings took a 1-1 tie into halftime before
Terence Lau (Shanghai, China, Shanghai American School) scored the deciding goal in the second half. Lawrence struck first with a score just over five minutes into the game, but
James Barrington (Pontefract, England, St. Wilfrid's) responded for the Prairie Fire ten minutes later. He was assisted by
Andy Van Buskirk (Overland Park, KS, Rockhurst).
"Three points on the road on the worst pitch we've seen all season is something the guys can be proud of," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "Lawrence was senior laden and it was a very physical contest, but we showed our resiliency. We'll look to build momentum."
Knox continues their conference road trip with a game against Beloit tomorrow.
