Men's Soccer Moves to 2-0

ST. PETER, Minnesota—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Gustavus Adolphus 1-0 on Sunday.

"We all thank and tip our caps to Mike, Josh and their program," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "Gustavus were wonderful hosts this weekend and their top class facility, management and gutsy players brought out some of the best in us."

Knox (2-0) and the Gusties played to a scoreless tie at halftime with only four shots on goal between the two teams. Nick Janulis broke the tie at the 63:04 mark with a header on a cross from Hank Horwitz. Sheikh added, "Of course, to get two first time goal scorers on target and to give minutes to a lot of guys helps us going forward.  We're excited to test ourselves and open our home account against one of the top ranked teams in the nation vs University of Chicago Wednesday."

Goalkeeper Justin Dunn grabbed six saves to remain unscored upon so far this season. "The takeaway from this weekend will be that when we defend together we can compete with some very good programs," concluded Sheikh.

Knox returns to Galesburg for their home opener on September 7.
