RIPON, Wisconsin- With seven team goals in total, the Prairie Fire men's soccer team rolled past Ripon College to remain perfect in Midwest Conference play.
Knox (10-2-3, 5-0-0 MWC) started the scoring early in the seventh minute when James Barrington scored a header off a cross for his first goal of the season. Lucas Sanchez put his sixth of year in the back of the net and was followed soon after by Alessandro Beneli. In the second half, James Barrington decided to double down and scored just over four minutes into the half. Jun Min put in his sixth of the season not long after. Sam Tatum scored his first of the year off a penalty kick in the 72
nd minute and Joey Dorgan capped the game off to make the final score 7-0.
Knox dominated all aspects of the game, putting 19 shots and goal compared to Ripon's mere 3, all of which were saved by Justin Dunn.
"Brian and I are incredibly proud of the performance today. 7-0 at Ripon on what can only be described as a difficult field. It was nice to get everybody some minutes and see the ball hit the back of the net a few times," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "Final thought of this weekend. We were all disappointed not to play Lake Forest on Saturday, so we understand what is at stake now and what we have to do these next few weeks. We'll be ready."
Knox will look to continue their dominance when they take on Illinois College in Jacksonville on October 18.
