GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Wartburg on Monday afternoon.
Knox (8-2-3) scored first, just 12 minutes into the game when Erick Karkut put the ball in the net after rebounding his own penalty kick. The Knights responded less than nine minutes later with a goal of their own. Neither team could finish from then on out and the score ended in a tie after two overtimes.
"Good midweek tustle today on Prats. Wartburg is a nationally good side and we traded blows with them well. 1-1 a fair score as Mike has a really balanced side," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "This fixture definitely prepared us for the second half of the season."
Knox returns to league play on October 7 as they host Grinnell.
