Women's Soccer Wins in Second OT

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team outlasted Grinnell on Saturday with a 2-1 victory in two overtimes.

Knox (9-5, 4-0 MWC) and the Pioneers went into overtime scoreless, but Grinnell scored early in the second half to take the lead. Jessica Peterson tied the game with about 20 minutes to play in regulation to help send the game to overtime. She was assisted by Yvette Rodriguez. After a scoreless first overtime, Peterson again came through with another goal with less than a minute and a half on the clock. Angie Gamez picked up the assist on the game-winning play.

The Prairie Fire outshot the Pioneers 17-7 in the game, but the Grinnell keeper made six saves to keep the game close.

Knox will travel to Lake Forest on October 14 looking to extend a 13-game conference winning streak.
