DE PERE, Wisconsin - The Knox College women's soccer team advanced to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament after defeating rival Monmouth College in dominating fashion to win the Midwest Conference Tournament.
Â
Knox took the courtesy of starting the scoring in the match. After multiple quality shots on goal from just outside the box, Knox finally put a quality attack together when Yvette Rodriguez found Corina Leyva for the first goal of the match in the 30th minute. Rodriguez also assisted a Leyva goal early in the second half to give Knox a controlling 2-0 lead. Rodriguez and Leyva were not done; however, because just minutes later roles reversed and Leyva found Rodriguez for the third goal of the match and what would end up being the final tally for the Fire.
Â
After a historic run last season to make the NCAA tournament, Knox proved their legitimacy as a dominant force not just in the Midwest Conference but also on the national scene making it back again this year. NCAA Tournament seeding will be announced on November 6 at 12:00 p.m. The selection show will be broadcast
