Women's Basketball Dropped by Ripon

GALESBURG, Illinois— The final game of the year brought a hard fought, but unfortunate loss for the Prairie Fire women's basketball team. Knox (13-10, 10-8 MWC) saw their season come to a close with a 72-58 loss to Ripon College (17-6, 15-3 MWC). This game was full of excitement as it was Senior Day as well as the team's Breast Cancer Awareness Game.

Karlie Thorn (Henderson, NV, Coronado) led the scoring for the Fire again in this matchup with 10 points and one assist. Jarrelyn McCall (Lonoke, AR, Lonoke) was just short of double digits in a couple of categories finishing with nine points and six rebounds. Morgan Potter (Huntington Beach, CA, Huntington Beach) was also close to a double-double with six points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Fire will say goodbye to just one player after the season: Carley Bechen (Eugene, OR, Churchill). Bechen will graduate early from Knox after three years of service to the women's basketball team. She finished with seven points, three assists, and two rebounds in her final game.

The Fire finished with one of the best conference and overall seasons in school history. Their 13 total wins and 10 conference wins are the most since the 1996-97 season. They will look to continue improving next season when they return all five starters and many significant bench players.

Head Coach Emily Cline was also honored before the game as the winningest coach in program history with 77 total wins.
