GRINNELL, Iowa - The Prairie Fire baseball team split a doubleheader with Grinnell on Saturday.
Knox (9-10, 3-5 MWC) totaled 21 hits in a game one victory, but fell in game two after a back and forth affair.
Matt McCaffrey (Wilmette, IL, New Trier), 
Kobe Shutter (Kankakee, IL, Bishop McNamara), 
Brendan Powers (Bourbonnais, IL, Bradley-Bourbonnais), and 
Juston Woodard (Oak Lawn, IL, Mount Carmel) all tallied four hits to lead the Prairie Fire. 
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) and 
Ryan Weitendorf (New Lenox, IL, Lincoln-Way East) both recorded three hits. Sykes, McCaffrey, Weitendorf, Shutter and Powers all hit home-runs, while Woodard, Powers, Shutter, and Weitendorf earned doubles. Weitendorf's blast was the 23rd of his career, a new Knox record. Sykes drove in five runs on the day.
Andrew Ponce (Bloomington, IL, University) earned his second win of the week by firing 2.2 innings in game one.
Knox will travel to Beloit on April 17 for a doubleheader.
