BELOIT, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Beloit on Monday.
 
Knox (10-11) dropped game one after giving up nine runs in the bottom of the first inning.  The Prairie Fire then outscored the Buccaneers the rest of the way and earned an 8-5 victory in game two.
 
Drake Sykes (Galesburg, IL, Galesburg) had an outstanding day at the plate with five hits in nine at bats including three home-runs, two doubles, and seven RBI. 
Dalton James (Homer, IL, Heritage), 
Paul Sanders (Rock Island, IL, Rock Island), and 
Matt McCaffrey (Wilmette, IL, New Trier) each added three hits on the day. Sanders belted a triple in the second game. McCaffrey and 
Nick Van Witzenburg (Lake in the Hills, IL, Crystal Lake South) each tallied a double on the day. 
Tristan Hannah (Chicago, IL, Lindblom) finished 2-for-4 at the plate as well.
 
Jack Barreca (Grayslake, IL, Grayslake North) earned the win in game two, firing four innings and giving up two runs. 
Kobe Shutter (Kankakee, IL, Bishop McNamara) earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
 
Knox will return to Wisconsin this weekend to battle the north division of the Midwest Conference for a crossover.
