Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Comes Up Short at Wheaton

WHEATON, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team fell to Wheaton 3-0 on Wednesday night to break a three-game winning streak.

Knox (4-2-1) held the Thunder in check for most of the first half, but Wheaton scored with less than four minutes remaining to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Thunder scored two more goals in the 68th and 69th minutes and held on for the victory.

The Prairie Fire outshot Wheaton in the second half, but managed only three shots on goal in the game.

"Another loss on the chin versus a national power, but I think the guys will come away with more belief from this game than our last loss," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "We looked solid for large periods of the game, but none of that matters if we aren't a threat going forward. In the end I can't complain that Wheaton were victors as they made 3 big plays. Until we seize bright moments in the game with goals we'll continue to struggle against top teams."

Knox will make the short trip to Augustana on September 16.
