"We faced a strong side tonight that really tested us. Matt brings strong and talented guys off the bench to replace strong and talented guys already on the field," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "Both sides probably feel like they left goals out there, but I'm incredibly proud of our fellows and their fight for 110 minutes. After a nine-game road swing to open the season we feel prepared to open conference at home against two tough opponents."
The Fire will take a few days off before their next matchup, the conference opener against Lawrence University on September 23 in Galesburg.
