MONMOUTH, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team cruised to their third straight victory to begin league play in a 4-0 win over Monmouth.
Knox (8-2-2, 3-0 MWC) scored in the 30
th minute when Phelipe Graske found Michael Dobin for the score. After holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Prairie Fire tacked on a goal just minutes into the second half to earn some breathing room. Kendall Davidson picked up the goal on an assist by Lucas Sanchez. Dobin then went on to score two goals about a minute apart to seal the victory and secure the hat trick. Alessandro Isoardi assisted on the final goal.
"Fun atmosphere at a great venue in Monmouth today. Kooten and his guys will feel hard done by the 4-0 score as they were set up well tactically and deserved more per their efforts," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "With that, couldn't be happier for our men who didn't start well but kept coming and trusted in one another. It is tough to come by road wins in conference especially at Monmouth, but we worked hard ourselves for the deserved three points."
Knox will host Wartburg on October 2.
