CHICAGO, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team battled the ninth ranked team in the nation on Monday and came out on the losing end.
Knox (1-1-1) held the University of Chicago at bay for much of the game, trailing only 1-0 at halftime. The Maroons added another goal early in the second half and then found the back of the net twice in the final eight minutes of the game.
"We lost to a better coached and better drilled team today. Mike has one of the finer teams in the country and we will take this shellacking on the chin," said head coach Tyler Sheikh. "We have many aspects of our game to improve and I get the sense that the guys are up for the challenge."
The Prairie Fire will travel to Blackburn College on September 6 to continue their long road stretch to start the season.
