GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team defeated Monmouth 78-62 on Wednesday night.
Knox (12-5, 7-2 MWC) trailed 17-14 after the first quarter, but used an 11-4 run to end the first half leading 39-32. The Prairie Fire added to their lead early in the second half, scoring 12 of the first 17 points in the half. The Scots pulled to win nine again by the end of the third quarter, but Knox quickly took control in the final stanza and cruised to a 16-point victory.
Karlie Thorn finished with a game-high 21 points on a 5-for-6 performance from long range. Jarrelyn McCall had a monster game with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists. Hailey Leinart added 17 points and Kyra Huffman scored 11 points and grabbed seven boards.
The Prairie Fire shot 59.6% from the floor and 54.5% from beyond the arc in one of their most dominating games of the season.
Knox will travel to Lake Forest on January 27 for another Midwest Conference battle.
