Cornell's Defense Holds Women's Basketball to 44

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Prairie Fire women's basketball team faced off against one of the top defenses in the conference, scoring just 44 in the loss to Cornell.
 
Knox (8-5, 3-2 MWC) will move into fourth place in the conference after the loss. The Prairie Fire jumped out to a 9-6 lead midway through the first quarter, but the Rams used a 10-point run to finish the stanza up 20-13. Cornell expanded their lead to 32-22 by halftime, but Knox pulled to within three late in the third quarter. The Rams began pulling away again in the fourth quarter and cruised to a 61-44 victory.
 
Kyra Huffman racked up 17 points and nine rebound, narrowly missing the double-double. Hailey Leinart added 12 points while Jarrelyn McCall finished with seven points, six rebounds, and four assists.
 
The Prairie Fire will return home to host Beloit on January 12.
