DE PERE, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team advanced to the Midwest Conference Tournament Championship with a 1-0 victory over Cornell on Friday afternoon.
Knox and the Rams played to a scoreless tie through the first half and most of the second half. Rocky Plaza found Nick Janulis for a score early in the 83
rd minute to break the tie. The Prairie Fire outshot Cornell 18-4 on the day.
"It wasn't the prettiest of games today," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "Cornell did a great job of disrupting play and made life extremely difficult. We found a way to get the goal. Nick has stepped up in big games all year and did so again. We will have to clean some things up before the final, but a real grind it out win today."
Knox will advance to play nationally ranked St. Norbert on November 3 at 2:00.
