GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Milwaukee School of Engineering 79-60 Saturday afternoon.
Knox (1-4) and the Raiders played a back-and-forth first half with five lead changes. The Prairie Fire led 28-27 with 3:06 left in the first half, but MSOE scored six of the next nine points to take a 33-31 lead into halftime.
The Raiders quickly took control in the second half, jumping out to a double-digit lead midway through the half. MSOE outscored Knox 46-29 in the second half thanks to a 57.7% showing from the field.
Jordan Rayner led the Prairie Fire with 14 points and Malcolm Bray added 11. Justin Windt just missed the double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.
"It was a step in the right direction. We played more together on offense and defense and competed harder with a very good basketball team," said head coach Kevin Walden. "We have to sustain that for 40 minutes."
Knox will return to action on November 25 as they host Iowa Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.
