BELOIT, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team fell to Beloit 59-53 in a conference matchup on Saturday.
Knox (15-7, 10-4 MWC) played a back-and-forth first quarter with the Bucs and took a lead early in the second period. Beloit turned the tables by scoring 10 straight points and took a 30-23 lead into the half. The Prairie Fire started the third quarter on a run of their own, reeling off 12 straight points to take a 35-30 lead. The teams matched blows the rest of the stanza and Knox retained a 42-39 lead heading into the final quarter. The Prairie Fire added to their lead early in the last quarter, but Beloit stormed back to tie the game at 48-all. The Bucs did not stop there and gained the advantage in the last few minutes. Beloit hit the majority of their free throws to hold on for the victory.\
Karlie Thorn led the Prairie Fire with 18 points, on 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Jarrelyn McCall added 15 points and six rebounds. Kyra Huffman poured in nine points and grabbed eight boards.
Knox will look to get back on track when they travel to Grinnell on February 13.
