GALESBURG, Illinois - Something is going on in Memorial Gymnasium as the Prairie Fire men's basketball team has won four straight at home, and four of their last five games overall. Knox knocked off Grinnell College 107-93 in a fast paced game with plenty of points and excitement for the home fans.
Jonathan Damota posted an impressive night, finishing with a game high 34 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Blake Godbold and Marko Protic each added 12 points and seven rebounds and first year Ikenna Ozor had 16 points off the bench. The key for Knox in this matchup was not rushing shots or putting up bad misses, the Fire only shot a single 3-point basket all night and were well above 80% from the foul line including Damota at 14-for-16. The Prairie Fire defense also held the Pioneers to under 40% shooting, limiting their high scoring abilities.
Knox has played its final game at home for the season but it does not look like they will be running out of gas anytime soon. They will look to finish their season strong with three upcoming games on the road; the first coming on February 10 at Beloit College.
