JANESVILLE, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire softball team split a conference doubleheader with St. Norbert on Saturday.
Knox (8-24, 3-13 MWC) gave up a seven-run second inning in the first game to fall behind early. The Green Knights held on for a 9-1 victory.
The Prairie Fire got on the board early in game two with two runs in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead. St. Norbert pushed across a run in the fifth, but Knox added one of their own in the sixth to earn a 5-1 win.
Tegan Doherty earned her eighth victory of the season, allowing only six hits and an earned run.
Kenzie Funk, Katy Coseglia, Cammie Stein, Emily Stevenson, and Valerie Froeming each tallied two hits for the Prairie Fire on the day. Coseglia clubbed a home-run and a double, Kristen Koviekis bashed a triple, and Stevenson, Funk, and Stein each knocked doubles.
Knox will travel to Lake Forest on April 29 to take on the league leaders in their final conference doubleheader of the season.
