COLLEGEVILLE, Minnesota—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with St. John's in their season opener.
Knox (0-0-1) only got off seven total shots in the game, while the Johnnies managed 15 total shots. Goalkeeper Justin Dunn stepped up for the Prairie Fire by saving all six shots on goal. First-year Jake Totty got off two shots, including one on goal, for Knox. Nick Janulis also put a shot on goal.
"You never know what to expect the first game of the season," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "Especially when you are up against an opponent like St. John's. We did some good things, but we also found things we need to improve on. All in all no one was satisfied with a draw, but I think it was a fair result."
The Prairie Fire return to action on September 2 as they remain in Minnesota for another tough matchup as they are set to take on #6 St. Thomas.
