GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Central 1-0 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
Knox (4-2-1) earned the game-ending score on a beautiful, long shot from Alessandro Benelli in the 108
th minute. The goal was Benelli's first of the season. The Prairie Fire outshot the Dutch 19-3 in the game, including a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal. Goalie Justin Dunn made a save in his lone chance to help secure the shutout, his fifth of the season. Dunn has only conceded three goals all season, two of them to #6 St. Thomas.
Knox will look to extend their four game winning streak when they host Buena Vista on September 16.
