Women's Soccer Moves to 3-0 in MWC

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Knox College Prairie Fire women's soccer team used another strong second half to take an early advantage in the Midwest Conference standings.

Knox (7-2-2, 3-0-0 MWC) trailed St. Norbert 1-0 at halftime, but used a flurry of goals to stage the comeback.

Jessica Petersen scored her second goal of the season to tie the game on an assist from Brooklyn Deming in the 58th minute. Petersen struck again at 64:04 when Rosie Medina found her for the eventual game-winner. Deming earned another assist when she played a perfect pass to Lydia Mitchell for a score in the 86th minute. Mitchell found the net again just 30 seconds later on Medina's second assist of the day.

The Prairie Fire outshot the Green Knights 16-8 on the day, including an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Sierra Daniger picked up her third victory of the season and grabbed four saves on the day.

"We played really well in the second half, a few of the women really stepped up," said head coach Chris Haught-Thompson. "This was a big conference win and our resiliency has been incredible so far."

Knox will look to remain perfect in conference and keep their four-game winning streak alive when they travel to Grinnell on October 6.
