Women's Basketball Falls to Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Illinois— Concluding their six game road trip, the Knox Prairie Fire women's basketball team was defeated by the Lake Forest College Foresters by a final score of 83-57. The game was marked by a slow start from Knox that could not be overcome.

Knox entered a relatively early deficit in the first half, particularly in the first quarter, one which they would be unable to overcome. This was primarily due to the three-point shooting from Lake Forest, and the lack thereof from the Prairie Fire. The Foresters shot 41.7 from beyond the arc, including a 2-for-4 performance in the half by Jaianna Brooks. While Knox received solid play from their backcourt duo of Karlie Thorn and Jarrelyn McCall, the Prairie Fire had 16 turnovers in the first half alone, which hampered their ability to maintain offensive rhythm. A more competitive second quarter in which Knox held steady with Lake Forest still left the Prairie Fire with a sizeable deficit of 15 points entering the half.

The second half saw the Prairie Fire start strong using their ability to score in the paint, only to falter in the fourth quarter. McCall and and Morgan Potter each had strong halves for Knox, with both of them scoring 10 points and in general dictating the offensive flow of the game. Knox's shooting percentage was also better in the second half, as the Prairie Fire were finally able to play to their offensive strength. Unfortunately for them, the Foresters also did better on the offensive side, shooting 60% from the floor and hauling in three more rebounds than Knox. This led to Knox's deficit only growing after a promising third quarter, which was too much for them to overcome in the end.

Knox looks to notch a conference victory against Monmouth in their first home game in a month on January 8 at 5:30 p.m.
