GALESBURG, Illinois –  The Prairie Fire women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches in conference play on Sunday.

Forced to play at Lakeside Recreation Center due to rain, the Prairie Fire women's tennis team fell 0-9 to Grinnell.

The Prairie Fire dropped all three of their doubles matches against the Pioneers. At number one doubles, Bhumika Gupta and Himani Patel managed to put together some impressive sets together against their opponent, but were defeated 8-3.

In singles play, Gupta and Grace Kostopoulos won multiple sets in their matches, and Laurel Stugart put together some nice plays as well against her opponent.

In the afternoon match, Knox played outside and lost to Cornell 1-8.

Gupta defeated her singles opponent 6-3, 6-3 for her eighth singles victory of the season.

Gupta and Patel again put up quite the fight at #1 doubles, but ended up falling 3-8.

"We were able to complete our Hit for Henry event today for MDA and Project Mobility," said head coach Meredith Witherell.

The Prairie Fire finish off the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to Illinois College.
