GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell 83-56 to Eureka on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but a jumper by Zach Lowe put the Prairie Fire on the board. Eric Thompson followed with a score to cut the deficit to five.
Eureka continued scoring with a flurry of baskets and soon took a double digit lead. The Red Devils led by as many as 24, but Knox pulled to within 19 points at halftime and trailed 44-25.
Eureka expanded their lead to 25 early in the second half and by the 10:39 mark led by 30. The Prairie Fire made a little headway in the final 10 minutes, but ultimately lost the game.
Jordan Rayner led Knox with 11 points and Wes Jolly picked up the double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
"Eureka is a great shooting team," said head coach Ben Davis. "We fell behind early and they were able to keep coming at us for 40 minutes. This was a good test for us, we will get back to work this week at practice."
Knox returns home on November 21 as they host Maranatha Baptist.
