Box Score EUREKA, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team defeated Eureka 79-71 on Wednesday night.
Knox led 23-16 after the first quarter of play and after an even 18-18 second quarter still led 41-34 heading into halftime.
The Red Devils tied the game at 45-all midway through the third quarter and took a 52-48 lead into the final quarter.
Eureka expanded their lead to six early in the fourth quarter, but Knox stormed back to take the lead with 4:02 to play. The Prairie Fire kept pushing and built their lead to double digits in just over two minutes. Knox made 10-of-13 free throw attempts down the stretch to seal the victory.
Nyah Daniels scored 20 points, hitting 3-of-6 from long range, to lead the Prairie Fire. NaKeva Mack added 18 points. Jarrelyn McCall tacked on 12 points and eight rebounds.
"It was a great comeback win on the road against a scrappy Eureka team," said head coach Emily Cline. "I like the fight we showed late in the third quarter and beginning of the fourth quarter. Solid defense and Nyah Daniels' offensive output keyed our run and comeback."
Knox returns to action on December 4 as they travel to Lawrence to begin conference play.
