MONMOUTH, Illinois – The Prairie Fire men's tennis team began their conference season with a 1-8 loss at Monmouth on Saturday.
 
Dobbin Pine earned a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory at #4 doubles and teamed up with Brad Newland to drop a close 6-8 match at #2 doubles.
 
Oscar Sanchez won 8-2 in an exhibition match as well. "It was a close match, but it came down to mental toughness," said Oscar.
 
"I am proud of these young men," said head coach Meredith Witherell. "They played phenomenally well and made the Scots work for every point and game."
 
Knox returns to action on March 24 as they host Illinois College and Dominican University.
