GALESBURG, Illinois - The Knox College Prairie Fire softball team dropped a doubleheader to St. Norbert College for Senior Day.
Â
The Prairie Fire scored first in game one after a hit by pitch to Britney Salinas, a walk to Katy Coseglia, and a huge double by Kenzie Funk. St. Norbert would respond with a run of their own in the top of the second, and no-hit the Prairie Fire in the bottom of the frame. Â The bats for the Green Knights caught fire in the top of the third, knocking in three runs.
Â
From there, the Green Knights had complete control of the game. The final score would be 12-1. Kenzie Funk led the team with two hits and she drove in the only run for Knox.
Â
St. Norbert scored five runs in the top of the second and added another run in each of the next two innings. The Prairie Fire would lose the second game 9-1. Mady Ferris led the team with three hits. Funk again provided the only RBI for the team when she knocked in Ferris.
Â
"St. Norbert is a great team," said head coach Erin Rutledge. "It was nice for Bea (Jimenez) to play well in front of her family on senior day. She put together some nice at bats and made some nice plays at second base."
