PLYMOUTH, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory at Lakeland on Tuesday afternoon.
Bhumika Gupta won her singles match 6-2, 6-4. Himani Patel also won 6-0, 6-1. Gupta and Patel also teamed up to win their doubles match 8-3.
"It was amazing to see all the hours during preseason pay off during our matches," said Patel.
"It was a tough competition," added Gupta. "They were playing good tennis, but we played one of our best matches and I am proud of the team and our first win! We are more confident and ready to go this weekend."
Grace Kostopoulos defeated her singles opponent 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. She also joined Kathryn Allee at #2 doubles to win 8-5.
Miranda Zuckerman earned a 3-6, 4-0, ret. win in her #6 singles match.
Knox will return to Wisconsin over the weekend to battle conference foes Ripon, St. Norbert, and Lawrence.
