Women's Soccer Defeats IIT on the Road

CHICAGO, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team defeated Illinois Institute of Technology 3-1 on Sunday night.
 
Jenna Li put Knox on the board in the 15th minute on an assist by Lydia Mitchell. Mitchell scored a goal of her own in the 33rd minute to put the Prairie Fire up 2-0. Emma McCormick assisted on Mitchell's goal. McCormick scored Knox's third goal in the 35th minute to give the Prairie Fire a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
 
The Scarlet Hawks found the back of the net late in the game, but the Prairie Fire held on for their fifth straight victory.
 
Knox outshot IIT 12-11, but the teams both managed six shots on goal. Katy Coseglia notched five saves for the Prairie Fire.
 
"We have been playing very good soccer lately," said head coach Taylor Houck. "We will look to continue our winning streak as we are starting to approach our conference season."
 
Knox travels to Simpson on September 22 and then begins Midwest Conference play on September 28 at Ripon.
