ROCK ISLAND, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's soccer team defeated Augustana 2-1 on Tuesday night to run their unbeaten streak to five.
Knox and the Vikings were scoreless through the first half, but Jun Min broke the tie in the 57th minute. Augustana scored the equalizer in the 85th minute, but Adetayo Adefioye immediately responded with a goal just 20 seconds later to send the Prairie Fire home victorious.
Knox outshot the Vikings 17-10, but only had a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Joao Freire notched four saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.
"This was a good win for us against an organized team with good players," said assistant coach Rodrigo Carvalho. "It's always important to react well after conceding an unexpected goal and I'm happy with the way we responded right after."
Knox will travel to Wisconsin this weekend to battle Ripon and St. Norbert.
