Men's Soccer Earns Victory at Millikin

DECATUR, Illinois – Under the clear night sky, the Prairie Fire men's soccer team took home their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory at Millikin University.

Knox controlled the first half of Wednesday's game outshooting the Big Blue 10-3, but they came out empty handed after the first 45 minutes of play.

The first score of the night came in the 53rd minute off a cross landing in a pool of Knox attackers leading the Prairie Fire to take advantage and put one in the net off the foot of senior forward Jun Min.

Senior forward Nick Janulis added another goal in the 60th minute off a throw-in from sophomore midfielder Sebastio Eca.

Janulis played close to a Big Blue defender and spun around him to connect for his first goal of the season.

Freshman goal keeper Joao Freire recorded his first clean sheet thanks to the defense shutting down the Millikin attack throughout the night allowing only one shot on goal.

"It was a good win against a good team on the road," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "We had a great couple days of training after a disappointing season opener and came out strong tonight. Learning to win on the road is always important for a young team and hopefully we can keep improving and getting the results we need away from home."

Next up for Knox is a matchup at Carthage College on Friday night.
