DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team lost to University of Dubuque 2-0 on Wednesday night.
The Prairie Fire got off to a good start against the Spartans battling back and forth. The Spartans took the lead in the 21st minute with a goal from freshman forward Brooke Bodzinski. Junior Jordan Cadena added another goal for the Spartans in the 44th minute.
The Prairie Fire struggled to defend in first half allowing six corner kicks for the Spartans. The Prairie Fire were outshot in the first half 6-3.
Head coach Taylor Houck said "We competed against a strong team. Although we went down in the first half I am happy with how our team came out during the second half. After being down by two they battled a tough opponent and did not allow a single shot during the second half. We have a lot to learn from this performance but we are excited to take these lessons into the weekend."
Knox was not able to put the ball in the back of the net although they outshot the Spartans 3-0 in the second half.
Next up for the Prairie Fire is a weekend full of games. The Prairie Fire kickoff against Aurora University at 2:00 p.m. Saturday and against Benedictine University at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
