GALESBURG, IL – Saturday night's rain storm forced Knox women's tennis opening matches at home to be played indoors at Lakeside Recreation Facility.

The Prairie Fire struggled against a tough Lake Forest team in their morning match losing 9-0.

"This was a tough opening conference match," sophomore Himani Patel said. "I learned what I need to work on in practice."

The next match for Knox was against Beloit College.

In doubles, Bhumika Gupta and Patel beat Priya Heinen and Kiri Youngquist 8-4. The Prairie Fire fell in the other two matches.

In singles play, Gupta won the sole singles match for the Prairie 6-1, 6-0 over Youngquist.

"My opponent was challenging, but I knew my game was focused and I played well," Gupta said. "I need to keep playing this way for the rest of the season."

The Prairie Fire are headed to Kohler, Wisconsin on Tuesday for a match against Lakeland University at 4:00 p.m.
