BELOIT, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Beloit 76-64 on Friday night.
After some early back and forth, Knox took a 21-16 lead. The Buccaneers stormed back to take a 22-21 lead, but the teams would trade blows once again. With 1:21 to play in the first half, the game was tied 37-37. Beloit made a trey with just over a minute to play and took a 40-37 lead into halftime.
The Buccaneers hit four straight jumpers and a pair of free throws to take a double digit lead early in the second half. Neither team scored for over four minutes, but Knox momentarily worked back to a single digit deficit. Beloit started to heat up once again and jumped out to a 62-47 lead. The Prairie Fire cut into the lead in the last few minutes of the game, but were unable to make up much ground as the Buccaneers held on for the victory.
Zach Lowe led Knox with 30 points, including a 6-for-10 showing from long range. Ethan Meeker added 14 points.
"Beloit shot very well tonight and outrebounded us," said head coach Ben Davis. "We shot fairly well, but could not quite match the rhythm of Beloit."
Knox will return to action tomorrow as they travel to Lake Forest.
