DECATUR, Illinois—The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to St. Norbert and Loras on Saturday.
Â
The Green Knights put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. They tacked on another run in the third and two in the fifth. Knox scratched across a run in the fifth, but St. Norbert responded with five more in the sixth and one in the seventh to earn an 11-1 victory.
Â
The Duhawks also plated a pair in the first inning in game two, but starting pitcher EJ Roncone settled in and held them scoreless for the next six innings. Relief pitcher Ira Moore pitched around a walk in the eighth to keep the game 2-0. Tristan Hannah hit a two-out single to score Kobe Shutter and put the tying run on base, but Knox fell 2-1.
Â
Hannah and Charlie Gibbons earned the two RBI on the day. Hannah and Brendan Powers led Knox with two hits apiece.
Â
"We played pretty good defense except for one inning against St. Norbert," said associate head coach James Clark. "We have to find a way to get the big hits with runners in scoring position."
Knox returns to action at Millikin tomorrow.
