ROCHESTER, Minnesota—The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a pair of games at the Luther Dome Tournament to kick off the season.

Macalester pushed across a run in the first inning in game one and then added four more in the second. Knox scored three runs in the fifth inning thanks to a two-RBI double by Britney Salinas. Macalester added a pair of runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to earn an 8-3 victory.

St. Catherine used a three-run first inning to take an early lead in the second game. They scored in every inning to win 13-0 in five innings.

Salinas, Dakota Davis, and Kenzie Funk each picked up hits in the doubleheader.

"This was our first action of the year," said head coach Erin Rutledge. "We played a pair of tough games, but we will look to rebound tomorrow."

Knox plays Bethel and St. Olaf tomorrow to conclude the Dome Tournament.
