GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team defeated Ripon 6-0 on Saturday to move to 5-0 in league play. Knox has scored 10 goals in the last two games.
Emma Art got the scoring started in the sixth minute. Michaela Thawley added a goal at the 17:51 mark and Lydia Mitchell scored her 11th goal of the season in the 24th minute to send Knox into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
Brianna Dietz and Sarah McCracken each scored in the first five minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. Ainara Rivera capped off the scoring with a goal in the 75th minute and Knox held on for the victory.
The Prairie Fire fired off 20 total shots with 15 of them coming on goal. The Red Hawks were not able to get any shots off in the game.
"It was a beautiful day to get another conference win under our belt," said head coach Taylor Houck. "It was even better to score six goals from six different players. Congratulations to our two scorers who earned their first collegiate goal today, Bri Dietz and Ainara Rivera."
The Prairie Fire return to action as they travel to Cornell on October 19.
