PLATTEVILLE, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers scored two goals in quick succession midway through the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Platteville outshot Knox 14-3 in the first half.
The Pioneers added another goal in the 66th minute to take a commanding lead, but the shot differential was a much closer 6-3 in favor of Platteville in the second half.
Overall the Pioneers held a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal. Martin Garcia tallied three shots on goal, while Luis Silva added two.
"We have played a tough non-conference schedule all season," said head coach Brian O'Connor. "This game was no different, as Platteville showed how good they can be in the first half. I thought we settled down and played with them in the second half."
The Prairie Fire travel to Lawrence on October 9 to continue Midwest Conference play.
