PASADENA, California - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a 67-52 contest at Caltech on Thursday night.
Knox held an 11-7 lead with 12:00 left to play in the first half, but the Beavers chipped away at the lead and then pulled away to a 33-25 lead at halftime.
The Prairie Fire cut the Caltech lead to four early in the second half, but the Beavers quickly built back up to a double-digit lead. Knox made another run to pull within two with 6:19 to play, but Caltech ended the game on a 13-1 run to claim the victory.
Jordan Rayner led Knox with 13 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Cade Windham added five points and eight rebounds.
"We had our chances tonight," said head coach Ben Davis. "Caltech was able to sustain our runs and end our momentum each time we came close. Our shooting was just not good enough to win and our defense let us down at the end."
The Prairie Fire return to action on December 18 as they continue their California trip at the University of La Verne.
