GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Grinnell on Saturday.

After a 1-2-3 first inning, the Pioneers scored in each of the next six innings to take an 11-0 lead in the first game. Knox scored two in the seventh inning to keep the game going, but Grinnell held on for the 11-2 win.

The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead after two innings in game two. The Prairie Fire plated a run in the third, but Grinnell tacked on four runs in the fourth inning. Knox scored three more in the fifth inning to bring the game within reach, but the Pioneers scored four unanswered runs to come away with an 11-4 victory.

Adam Brown led the Prairie Fire with three hits, two steals, and two runs scored. Ben Rogina, Chase Thies, and Brown each hit doubles. 

"We find ourselves battling back a lot this year," said associate head coach James Clark. "We have stretches where we play very well, but just a few mistakes are hurting us right now. We get to play again tomorrow and we will continue to work on the things that will make us successful in the long run."

Knox travels to Grinnell for a rematch on April 25.
