GRINNELL, Iowa - The Prairie Fire baseball team lost a pair of conference games at Grinnell on Sunday.
The Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom of the first and a run in the second to take an early lead in game one. The score remained close until Grinnell broke it open with an eight run sixth inning to win 13-0 in seven innings.
Knox scored twice in the third inning of game two, but the Pioneers responded in the bottom half. The Prairie Fire plated another run in the fourth and maintained the 3-2 lead until Grinnell walked it off in the ninth.
Tyler Bialek tossed a gem for Knox in game two with four runs in eight innings pitched.
Ben Bucher and Jack Maize each picked up a pair of hits for the Prairie Fire.
"After Grinnell pitched it very well in the first game, it was nice to see Tyler come out and match that with a great performance in game two," said associate head coach James Clark. "We played very well in game two and we will look to bring that same intensity the rest of the season.
Knox travels to Illinois College on April 28 for a conference doubleheader.
