BELOIT, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire softball team fell in a doubleheader to Beloit on Sunday.
The Buccaneers plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning in game one, but Knox responded with two in the top of the second. Beloit tacked on a run in the third and held on for the 4-2 victory.
Londyn Nelson toed the rubber for the Prairie Fire in game one and allowed just one earned run in six innings.
The Buccaneers scored twice in the bottom of the first in game two. Knox plated a run in the top of the third, but Beloit came back with two of their own. The Buccaneers added three more to take the 7-1 win in game two.
Haylee Carpenter led the Prairie Fire with three hits on the day. Nelson, Kenzie Funk, and Casey Hipp each added two hits.
"We switched it up today and played very well in game one," said head coach Erin Rutledge. "We are very close to putting it all together for both games of a doubleheader. It was great to see Londyn pitch so well, she deserved a win in game one."
Knox travels to Illinois College on April 30.
