Men's Soccer Picks up Big Victory Over IC

GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team kept their postseason dreams alive with a 3-1 victory over Illinois College on Tuesday afternoon.

Knox and the Blueboys played a relatively uneventful first half with only two shots each. The second half saw flurry of action, starting with a goal by Luis Lepervanche in the 55th minute to give the Prairie Fire a 1-0 lead.

Lepervanche added another goal in the 60th minute to give Knox some cushion and Alex White tacked on a score in the 65th minute for a 3-0 lead.

Illinois College showed some life when they found the back of the net in the 70th minute to give the Prairie Fire a renewed focus on defense.

Knox outshot the Blueboys 9-8 overall, including a 7-6 edge in shots on goal. Nicolas Lantzendorffer grabbed five saves for the Prairie Fire, including a spectacular save on a missile from just outside the box.

"We really turned it on in the second half," said head coach Kevwe Akpore. "We had some great looks on goal and Nicolas played a great game in goal. Now we wait and see."

Knox awaits their postseason fate as Beloit remains in the hunt for the four seed in the Midwest Conference Tournament with two games left to play.
