GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team fell to Illinois College 2-1 to close out their season on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Blues scored in the 11th minute of the game to take an early lead. Illinois College took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
IC was awarded a penalty kick in the 69th minute and converted for a 2-0 lead.
Aleene Ramirez scored for Knox in the 84th minute, but the Prairie Fire could not complete the comeback.
Knox outshot the Lady Blues 14-6 overall, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
"We had chances to score and were getting in great position all day," said head coach Rob Battisson. "Credit to IC for converting their chances, but in most phases of the game I felt like we played how we wanted to play."
Knox will conclude their season and will not make the conference tournament for the first time since 2014.
