MONMOUTH, Illinois - The Prairie Fire cross country teams competed at the Midwest Conference Championships hosted by Monmouth on Saturday.

The men's team placed seventh and the women's team finished in ninth place.

Lance Miller Yates paced the men's team with a time of 27:03.57 to finish in the top-20. Justin Garcia (29:56.89), Kyle Horn (30:14.11), Elliot Varnum (30:35.76), and Dakota Robison (32:00.68) rounded out the top-5.

Saxon Alvarez led the women's team with a time of 27:29.69. Megan Shafar (29:46.08), Maren Borchers (31:58.80), Serena Delgadillo (32:32.51), and Eileen Sheetz (33:32.52) rounded out the top-5.

"Both the men and women put up great efforts today," said head coach Evander Wells. "We had a total of 5 PR's and 4 season bests. Everyone went out and gave it their all. This was a tough course and we still really ran well."

Knox returns to action as they travel to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on November 12 in Geneva, Illinois.
